I returned to the gag cartoon format from the first years ofmaking sketchbooks because I discovered that, unlike inthe previous years, I already had a bunch of gags that had accumulated in my flat files. This was partially because I’d managed to talk NPR’s All Things Considered into letting me become their “Radio Cartoonist.” The idea was that I’d describe an illustration on air, and let the listeners come up with various caption ideas before I told them what I’d had in mind. While I loved doing them, radio cartooning turned out not to be a genre for a reason, even after I promised to do the Sunday ones in color.      – Mo Willems
